rolling on chance
chance series - inspired by i ching
In exploring the idea of chance art, I made an alternative alphabet from symbols. I then made wood blocks of the symbols from laser-cut laminated wood and made a twenty-six-sided die with those symbols. I rolled the die on a piece of Rives BFK with a 1" x 1" grid and printed whichever symbol landed upwards in the spot where it landed. I printed every time the die landed until every symbol was printed at least once.
